Seeking 2 Lead Preschool Teachers to take one of the following sessions:
Session A: 8:30am – 1:30pm, Mon/Tues/Fri
Session B: 9:30am – 2:30pm Wed/Thu
Start date to be determined for the right candidate. We are ideally seeking one or two teachers to start in January/February and continue through summer 2017. This is a home-based preschool setting with 6-8 children in care per session. We are located very close to North Seattle community college, near Northgate way and 99. Hours are flexible enough that students may find this perfect for classroom/ work balance.
Desired Qualifications for Lead Teachers:
– Candidates who will be considered should have 2 years teaching experience in a classroom setting. Applicants who currently have or are in the process of obtaining BA, AA or CDA in Early Childhood Education or related degrees are encouraged to apply.
-CPR/First Aid & Blood Borne Pathogens Certification (within 2 months of hire)
– 30 Hours STARS Training (within 2 months of hire)
– Food Handlers Permit (within 2 months of hire)
-Proof of a Negative TB Test
-Working knowledge of child development for ages 2– 5yrs
-Demonstrated capacity to plan effective classroom activities
-Familiarity with developmentally appropriate play/activities
-Good communication and a team player attitude
-A commitment to continued professional growth
-Can develop and implement an emergent curriculum that provides multiple opportunities for children to represent, revisit, and extend the focus of their learning
-Demonstrate genuine interest in the diverse lives of children and their families
-Are professional, patient and possess a child-centered philosophy for how children learn and grow
-Have a deep respect for children’s capacity to learn, know and think critically
-Command of the English language is a must.
-Candidate with super silly dancing skills encouraged to apply.
Primary Responsibilities of a Lead Preschool Teacher:
-Communicate positively with all parents and children.
-Be reliable, flexible and hardworking.
-Have reliable transportation
-Prepare and maintain an orderly, attractive and joyful learning environment.
-Support the implementation a dynamic daily curriculum for preschool age children (ages 2.5- 5) that supports the current weekly, monthly and artistic themes, is in keeping with the our philosophy, and meets the needs and promotes the growth of students in your class.
-Participate in play-based curriculum.
-Interact and observe during Free Play, Activity and Outdoor Play times with students as needed.
-Support students using the bathroom.
– Serve prepared snack and lunch.
-Provide safe and effective supervision for students in your care at all times.
-Provide appropriate emotional and social support for each child’s development.
-Use positive guidance and discipline methods that strengthen each child’s problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
-Maintain appropriate tone and decorum with students at all times.
-Maintain student cleanliness especially faces, noses, and hands.
-Greet and assist in drop-offs and prepare students for pick-up time.
-Ensure classroom is clean and all items are in their specified location at the end of the session.

Employees must be in good physical health. The employee frequently is required to stand for extended periods, walk, climb stairs, sit on the floor, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to fifty pounds of either materials or a child.
